Description | Taylors 40 years - Port Wine
Taylor's 40 Year Old - Port Wine is a long-aged Tawny Port, produced by Taylor's in the Porto and Douro region. It results from selected red Port wines aged in oak barrels in the house's cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia, in a slow process that favors great complexity, balance and delicacy. It is a rare wine, produced in limited quantities, whose long stay in cask gives it a remarkable aromatic depth and an enveloping texture.
In the glass, it displays the characteristic antique golden-olive hue of very old tawny ports. The aroma features intense notes of dried fruit, honey, nuts, roasted coffee, and spices, with hints of nutmeg that add sophistication to the whole. On the palate, it reveals itself as dense, concentrated, and rich, with an intense and almost viscous texture, yet always harmonious. The finish is long, persistent, and marked by great elegance, leaving a lasting impression of refinement.
It is an excellent choice to accompany desserts such as crème brûlée or wild strawberries, but it can also be enjoyed on its own at the end of a meal, or served with nuts and other dried fruits.
